Good day

My day started with a call from the contractor... the upstairs bathroom wall ended up 2 inches too long so the sink didn't fit... which is good news for me! Off to the granite store I went to pick out my slab of granite for my free upgraded custom bathroom counter and sinks. She said they are planning on installing the counters on 2/11. Trim work looks pretty much done to me. The stairway trim is finished, trim around the front entry window done, and the wood detail on the dining room ceiling is done. The bar cabinets are now in place. The counter for the laundry sink was installed as well as the master bath sink. They started closing in around the tub and built the shower bench and ledge. I was expecting the bench to be a little bigger but it has to be that width in order to keep the jets centered so, it'll be ok I guess. Tomorrow I meet the designer at 11:30 to decide which walls get painted which colors. Painting should be starting soon!

Slower day today

Not much changed today. The bottom half of the dining room walls is now trimmed, cement board is up in the master shower and the master tub is getting built in. That's about all that changed today. I think the painting begins tomorrow and will go on through the weekend. I'm meeting with the designer to finish picking out paint colors Friday afternoon. Shouldn't be much longer!

AMAZING Progress

I've been busy, busy, busy lately and haven't had much time to post updates, but it's all coming together! Last Friday more of the tile work was done... more trim pieces and master bath floor finished. On Saturday, I ordered a pool table and a few more pieces of furniture for the bar area. I stopped by again on Saturday and saw they had grouted more tile and tiled the mud room. When I stopped by tonight, I saw that most of the trim is up, interior doors are in, kitchen cabinets are in, bathroom cabinets are in, bar cabinets are partially in, kitchen desk is in, mud room storage lockers are in. I met with the carpenter to talk about adding a ledge around my pool table room and he said he should be out by Thursday evening. I got the ledge planned, then met with someone to plan out all of the closet shelves and pick out bathroom hardware. I'm still working on the master closet layout but for the most part, all of that is done. I then met with my audio system installer. He's in the process of building me a tv and sound system package for the theater and the rest of the house. Speakers will go in the theater room, bar/pool area, kitchen, patio, and master bathroom ceilings. I'm having a SONOS system installed... very cool. I was extremely impressed with it in the showroom and something you should definitely check out if you're trying to add music to your house. They even have wireless speakers for existing construction. Pretty much lets you listen to anything on your computer, itunes, ipad, phone, pandora, or any local radio station anywhere in the world in any room and is all controlled with an ipad.
